WHAT IS BAD RITUALS?

BAD RITUALS is a creative organizing practice by Michaela Partridge founded on the principle of interior wellness – the belief that the spaces we inhabit quietly shape how we think, move, and live each day.

Part professional organizing studio, part design philosophy, the practice brings clarity, order, and intention to the home through thoughtful systems and aesthetic refinement.

Rather than prescribing rigid methods or trends, BAD RITUALS helps clients understand their own instincts, rhythms, and priorities. Spaces are then edited, organized, and composed to support the way people actually live – creating homes that feel calm, functional, and deeply personal.

FOUNDER, BAD RITUALS

MICHAELA PARTRIDGE

Michaela Partridge studied art and design at Syracuse University alongside religion and society, an interdisciplinary foundation that shaped her long-standing interest in how environments influence behavior, meaning, and daily ritual.

After graduating, she spent more than a decade living and working across four countries and twenty-five cities, rarely staying in one place for long. This highly mobile chapter required constant adaptation – learning how to pack lightly, organize efficiently, and create a sense of home in unfamiliar spaces. Over time, these experiences shaped a simple philosophy: beauty, order, and daily ritual are not luxuries, but essential structures that allow people to feel grounded wherever they are.

In 2023, after returning to her hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska, Michaela and her wife restored a 1947 mid-century cottage that became the founding inspiration behind BAD RITUALS. Today, she brings that same hands-on approach to every project – blending spatial organization, visual composition, and practical systems to help homes function beautifully.
